MATT PERPER
Owner, Founder & Director of Player Development
Matt Perper is the Owner and Founder of The Swing Loft, where he is the director of all player development programming. With more than a decade of coaching experience at programs including Brown University, UMass Lowell, Southern New Hampshire University, Iona University, and Western Connecticut State University, Matt has built a strong reputation as a trusted coach and baseball mind.
His background spans hitting, pitching, biomechanics, and athlete mentorship, allowing him to design truly individualized training plans. At The Swing Loft, Matt integrates advanced tools like On Base U Mobility testing, HitTrax Data Capture, Peletero Player Programming, Rapsodo Data, and Driveline systems to give athletes precise, data-driven feedback that accelerates development.
Beyond on-field instruction, Matt is deeply committed to guiding players through the college process and helping them make informed decisions about their future. His approach blends expertise, honesty, and a genuine passion for teaching — creating an environment where athletes grow, progress, and build lasting confidence in their game.
CHRIS ROWAN
Director of Strength & Performance
Born in the Bronx and raised in Mount Vernon, Chris Rowan brings a lifetime in sport and two decades in performance training to his role as Director of Strength & Performance at The Swing Loft. Drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 1997, Chris spent ten years in professional baseball, where his passion for strength, movement, and long-term athletic development first took shape.
For the last 20 years, he has trained male and female athletes across baseball, softball, basketball, and football — from youth and high school competitors to college players and pros. His programming blends sport-specific strength work, explosive power development, and corrective strategies to help athletes move better, perform at a higher level, and stay healthy.
Chris holds multiple NASM certifications, including CES, PES, CPT, and Special Populations, giving him a unique ability to address both performance enhancement and movement limitations. His mission is straightforward: build strong, resilient, confident athletes who are prepared to succeed on the field and in life.
